Help for Churchwardens
The English Clergy Association’s new initiative to help churchwardens develops further in 2007 with the theme of the Annual Address being Mediation – the sorting out of disputes without the costs and problems of going to Court. We continue to offer help and information to churchwardens nationally. Churchwardens will enjoy the twice-yearly Parson and Parish magazine, and we seek to give legal information, information on how to deal with an interregnum, how to get grants, advice about buildings maintenance and so on.
Sir Patrick Cormack MP, Vice-President of the English Clergy Association said "As a church warden myself in my local church, I am delighted to see this initiative which will provide help and advice to hard-pressed churchwardens throughout the country".
Conference: May 12th 2008, 2pm St. Giles-in-the Fields, London
In 2008 the Association will celebrate its 70th anniversary. The speaker will be our Patron, the Rt. Rev'd and Rt. Hon. the Lord Bishop of London, Dr. Richard Chartres.
The Worshipful Chancellor Dr. James Behrens gave the Annual Address this year, Monday May 14th 2007. His address is printed in Parson & Parish.
The 2006 Annual Address was given by the Most Hon. the Marquess of Salisbury, P.C., D.L., who is one of our Vice-Presidents. The Address is reproduced in the current issue of Parson & Parish, free to members but also available on this Website.
Ample time for Questions and Discussions will be available, and we are most fortunate to be able to meet so centrally, and in such a very attractive restored Parish Church. The interior can be viewed on the contact us page.
Churchwardens are warmly invited to join the English Clergy Association – Contact The Reverend John Masding.
